A technical breakdown of my journey learning what there is to the ATOMOS SUMO 19 Directors Monitor Recorder
TESTING
I booked out the Atomos Sumo a day before the shoot so I could prepare and get familiar with the equipment. I also tested its different features, such as the waveform, LUTs and focus assist, to make sure I knew how to use them before the shoot.
Features
01. Subject
I had a play around with the Atomos Sumo and got the waveform up and running. This helped me see the exposure levels of the image and understand how the brightness was being shown on the monitor.
02. Grab Button
I then found the LUT option on the Atomos Sumo and had a look through the different LUTs available. This helped me see how LUTs can change the look of the image while monitoring.
03. Matching Eye Lines
I then enabled the focus assist on the Atomos Sumo and tried the mode that turns the image black and highlights the areas that are in focus. This helped me understand how it can be used to make focusing easier and more accurate.
